what is a good way to measure the clearance on the shift rail to the shift rail? Ithink that the gasket on for the housing cover is maybe to thick! how should the rounded area where it mates into the rail look mine is about 3/4 round and a 1/4 thick . does this need to look like a ball on the end or is mine just worn to much? thanks

Since u have been into your shifter, tell me something. Mine( M/F 35)quit shifting today. It seemed to be locked up in reverse. No movement- i couldn"t move the shifter. I pulled the fill plug off and shifted the gears via a pry bar and was able to get it to my house, but it looks like a hassle to pull the hood , dash, steering box, all just to pull the top trans cover.
