I cant seem to get my altenater to work on my 175 D I have the oregenal type altenater with the tac. cabel on back I PUT ON A NEW VOLTAGE REGULATER and had the altenater tested it put out 14.4 volts the battery charges up with a battery charger but if i dont disconect the battery cabels it will run dowen. when i pulled the regulater off i might have got the wires switched i tryed to look on some other 175s but thay were all converted to a deferant altenater with no externel regulater so that dident work the schmatic i have of the wiring has so meany wires i cant tell what goes where. when i put the fuse in the altenater wire the regulater goes ping?it all started when i put a new fuel sending unit in and a new car fuel gage in my macanic wont put them in any more. he said the replacement gages onley last 3 months thats why i used a round truck gage it didnt work eather it goes to full and stays ther. any help? THANKS george T.

If you think the wires may be crosed on the regulator take the battery cable off and change them, watch the cable for an arck when it touches the post the fuel gauge has to mate up with the sending unit in the tank. hope this helps. Gordon-(TN)
