Have oil dripping out of starter just after shut down. Where is it coming from? Is the clutch going to be recked? How do I fix it?

It happened on my 35. It was the tranny fluid leaking out. There is a plate held on with 4 bolts under the clutch that I loosened off to drain the oil. Luckily, the clutch still works fine. To test your clutch, tromp the brakes while moving, or pull a heavy load, you'll soon know if it's slipping.

Sounds as if your rear main seal has gone. Once this oil makes it onto your clutch plates they are history. Crawl under the unit & have a look if there is a weep hole in the casing with a split pin in it. Move the pin around & see if oil drips here as well. I'd split the motor now on the off chance of saving the clutch plates. The rear main seal is a piece of cake to change on the 3 cyl perkins. You just have to remove clutch & flywheel & then dismantle the two piece housing that holds the two pieces of rope seal that does the work. Its always easier with a manual to refer to. If the oil is coming from the rear seal & leaking out of the starter it must be leaking badly. Sounds odd to be quite frank. Then again there's alot of tricks these old machines can throw at you. Good luck

Hi I had a 35 delux and i took it to a dealer it was not that problem but when he got inside the clutch was oli soaked not enough to start slipping the mechanic told me that the transmission shaft had wore and the seal would not hold pressure and a sleeve had to be installed around the old shaft so the seal would hold oil pressure back from spraying on the clutch this is on a 35 deluxe with multi power removed
Hope this helps
