Just changed all the filters on my Super 90 power steering was loosing PS and PTO after a little mowing, everything works when cold but stops working after about 20 minutes. System checked out fine so I dont have to pull the PTO clutch pack (thank god) and was wondering what was the best fluid to use in the tranny/PS/PTO etc...Have been looking through forums and there are a lot of recommendations but not a real solid answer. I picked up my new IT manual yesterday but it only tells you the capacities not the fluid type to use. Also the manual is outdated so I'm sure there is a synthetic alternative to use that could stand up to the varied climate we have here in Ontario. Need something that will work in +30 deg summer but also works when -20 or so. Other question is does anyone have a schematic of the electrical system for the Super 90 diesel? There is nothing in my IT manual. Mine is pretty much a mess lots of patched wires and dead ends. I was thinking of re-wiring it from scratch as nothing electrical other than starter seems to work, dash guages, lights nada. Thanks in advance

your super 90 expert is a man known as Mr. Clark of Cemar Tractors in Holcomb , Miss. Ask him if permatran 2 will work in that power steering for you. he should also be able to get you all your manuals for you, or anyway advice. You could even tru agcos' web site for parts they did have an older tractor parts division. good luck, Mr. Cecil is a good man you tell him I told you so.

Thanks Mike, I got an electrical schematic the other day from one of the guys. I think I know what the major problem is now as well. Seems that the PS pump is picking up junk and restricting the pickup screen. Since all the fluid and filters are new that eliminates the problem there. When I pulled the pump again last night after the problem started again I noticed lots of debris on the screen. I guess I will have to flush out the bottom of the tractor as there is about 40 years of metal filings and gunge down there and no amount of fluid changes will ever clean that out.

you are right about the super 90 picking up a lot of junk, It is the only tractot I know of with the lift sensing set up in the dirt as it is, just ready fo hydraulics to pick up dirt and such. also watch for wear on that steering pedestal control valve. they are just set up to eat your lunch with the least amount of dirt or pressure loss, the tractor that I had experience with was a 1965 year model it had a nasty habit of steering to the right uncontrollably. ggod luck
