Just looked at a 165 deisel sitting at a NH dealer-SN CDW643007199. Has 15.5x38 rears, matching coop's, about 30%life left, really weather cracked, front 6.50 x 16, also about 30% and weather cracked. It has 2611 hours, frost plugs look new, the rear injector is leaking fuel, paint is pretty rough, misssing front grill and battery cover. The hinges on the hood are broken but can be fixed. Head lights on one fender don't work and I would probably re-wire them anyways. Didn't get to hear it run because the battery was dead. The price tag: $6500. Is it really worth that much??? I would think I could find a better one for less.what's you guy's opinion?

I'm thinking about 4 or 5K in this area. Doesn't sound like it was taken care of. But the diesel engine makes it worth a bit more.

I wouldn't pass it up altogether - Haggle a bit with the guy and see what happens.

I would say it is worth no more than $3,000 to 4,000 since it is in bad shape. We bought a 1973 MF 165 Diesel about 5 years ago that is in very good condition with 4 new tires for $5,950. This tractor has not given us any trouble since we bought it. If I was you I would probably keep looking because from the condition, you could easily spend more money than one that is in very good shape.

A 1965? Looked newer than that- I thought it looked more like a early 70's. I looked at it one more time, And the clutch pedal looks to have broke amd then it was welded back together, with plates on both sides for reinforcement. Also the PTO lver was broken off and a peice of wood was put on in it's place. It's just screaming lemon from what I can see, and I dont think I'm gonna stop again.

Hi, Price very depending on where you live. If the area is full of part time farmers the price will be higher. Here on the east coast prices are high. A 165D in perfect shape will bring $6500. Fixer uppers bring $2000 to $3500 at auctions. Rear tires will cost you $800 to $1000 depending wheather you need tubes and fluid. Front tires are around $50 a piece. I have two of them. Bill

I hear ya on the price of tires. This summer I had to put new rears on my gas 165, 16.9 x 29- about $850 by the time I was done. I always put fluid in, I need a little extra weight for backing heavy wagons on wet concrete and for occasional grunt work.

Way too much money for the condition. Also if tires have only 30% then hours have been set back a few thousand. Better look elsewhere.

I think the tires may be off a 65. Also kinda looks like it could have been alot of road use, pulling wagons, etc. I have a 165 gas at home, But I wouldn't mind getting ahold of another I could stick a loader on. I have a front pump and the controls for it, just the frame on the loader went all to heck and now I like not having the loader on it. Makes a good chore tractor.
