I have a 1958 202 industrial and have ordered a manual, but I have a couple questions that I would like some help on till it gets here.
1. is the pedal above the brake pedals an accelerator or a de-accelerator? Mine is unhooked.
2. Without a serial tag on the loader how can you tell if it's a 100 or 200?
3. After I got it running and filled the power steering reservoir I tried to bleed the air out as suggested by Big Dean. As soon as you start to turn the wheel it just turns very fast to one side and stays there. It's impossible to turn the wheel the other way with the motor running. Kinda seems like a line is hooked up wrong or a valve in the steering is stuck.
Thanks for any information, Tom/Idaho

After replacing both front cylinders, i now have the same problem. I spoke to a John Deere mechanic last night who has had some experience with MFs'. He suggested that I take the steering valves apart and clean the "spool" and the centering valves. He advised to polish them with crocus cloth until they slid smoothly in their bores. He said that the valves get dirty and develope a film that keeps them from moving in ther bores. To remove the valves you have to remove the dash, and all the lines. Remove the three bolts that hold the steering cover on and remove it. Next remove the staked nut that holds the bearings and valves in place, do not allow the steering shaft to rotate when doing this. remove the four bolts that hold the adaptor on and remove the assemble as a unit. BE VERY CAREFULL HERE OR THE CENTERING VALVES (10) AND THEIR SPRINGS (5)WILL FALL OUT AND YOU WILL BE LOOKING ALL OVER FOR THEM. Clean and polish and reassemble in reverse order, coat everything with automatic transmisson fluid on reassemble. hopes this helps...nk

Hi I Have a 204 with a loader and the manual that came with it is a first edition for the 202 and 204. The brake pedals (L&R) can be joined together by a lock.

above and to the left of the brake are two pedals separated by the brake rod assemby and are foot rests (according to the parts book)

re the loader...mine is a 101 102 made for MF by Davis...the reservoir is inside the frame of the loader and the levers are on the right side, top of the loader frame underneath the air vent. dunno how you can tell what yours is without a tag on the loader.

good luck
