Hey everybody,
I have a 135 Massey that I rake and mow hay with and have at times been concerned about the muffler and exhaust being under the tractor. I have tried a verticle mufflet once for I think it was a JOhn Deere but it fit the flange, anyhow. Anyone out there have verticle exhaust on their 135 with the hood latch on the same side? My worry would be that it would be in the way of fueling and battery service? any thoughts?
Thanks, Gary

Aren't there 135's with the hood hinged on the side with the manifold on it? If it wouldn't be to expensive that woudl be the thing too do. Just change out the side panels and hood. My main concern with the horizontal set up is that when raking hay you have a lot of dry material going along a hot muffler, not a good combination.

Funny how it is always "Different strokes for different folks". I have broken my vertical muffler elbow twice due to a lot of trees and a minimum of ability. I want to switch to a horizontal muffler to save money.

I know there is a vertical exhaust elbow as I stated before I have had one on it before adn have seen them in catalogs. Was only asking, maybe not clear enough for some folks, if anyone had any problems with it bein in way. As for the cackeling, there was a different story in about every post on that subject, what else would you call it. Why didn't someone just tell the guy to look over in the tractor photos or go to the massey page on the site.

I have a '66 MF135 with the exhaust under the tractor and I prefer this.I think fueling and all other service in that area would very interesting to say the least if system was changed to verticle.Going under trees could be fun as well.My only complaint with the system under tractor is implement hook-up.That diesel exhaust will smother you! Thats my opinion any who.
