I own a 1947 Massy Harris 22 tractor, and plan on donating it to a local charity. I need to find a legitiment price to write off on my taxes. It runs and has a 3 point hitch and a hydraulic system. It is the original 6 volt system. It has good tires. The paint is ratty, but not rusty. It also has a 6 foot blade. Where can I go to establish the proper figure to assign the taxes? Thanks for any help.

Chuck

If the tin oval ID plate is missing then the serial number is also stamped into the machined surface on the top of the transmission/differential housing. Look on the left (clutch side) between the cast shifting platform (where the gearshift is) and the steel plate that covers the differential gears. It will be in there, probably covered with paint so you might have to do a bit of scraping and wire-brushing. Sometimes the numbers are not stamped in too deeply. Underneath the rearend area are the casting date numbers which are cast in. This doesn't tell you the year of manufacture or the serial number, only when the casting was poured but it is a ballpark ID of year.

There should be a oval tag on the frame rail in front of the clutch .
