Hello and good day,

Looking at buying a MH 444 and wanting some good sound advise which is always available on these boards.

4 cyl gas, 10 speeds, H/L P/S 3 pt hitch, loader, wide front end.

What year would this tractor be?
Noisy release bearing when trans not engaged. Anything to worry about here?
Appears to blow a puff of blue smoke when start up. One piston on bucket control. Is this strong enough? Are they good starter in winter. Gets pretty cold up here in MB. Owner will take $4000 CDN. Fair or too much?
Anything else you can pass on whether this is a decent tractor for general 5 acres of horse maintenance work would be appreciated.

Good strong tractor. How is the sheet metal? Watch that lovejoy connection between the engine & gearbox. They sit high compared to the newer tractors of the same hp. I do believe that they will be sought after in the future. They were built from '56-58 and had Continental 277 engine with a 4" bore & a 5 1/2" About 7,000 tractors were built in the 444, I believe. They were made as Lp, Diesel, and Gas models. Do you have pictures of it that you could post? It is a whole lot of tractor for a 5 acre horse place, you won't hurt it a bit.
