Sounds like you must have found your wiring diagram. For most of my tractor wiring I have used 14 gauge although some might think it a bit too heavy. Some guys like 16 or even 18 gauge but I think it looks a bit too thin in diameter for a tractor, however it will work fine. Make sure to use a heavier gauge wire, maybe 12 or 10 gauge, for the connection between the battery power and the ammeter. You can still get some of the braided cloth-covered wire like the original stuff at some automotive/tractor retoration places if you want to spend more money. I like to solder any connectors that you crimp onto wires, it seems to give them a better connection. The modern 'split' plastic wire looms work good if you want to make up a wiring harness. If you are using the old 6V system, make sure you use the big heavy #1 or even #0 battery cables. Don't use the smaller diameter cables that are used on modern 12V applications, apparently you will lose too much amperage. Good luck with your project, nothing looks nicer than a neat and tidy wiring job where the wires are positioned and routed correctly.

I agree with bit about soldering connections. Crimp on work Ok at first but after a few months exposed to the elements are unreliable. Look around for proper connectors - you can get them at some places. Heat shrink tube fitted over terminals gives a really professional finish as well.
