Pacer external oil lines why only 3/16

The original external oil lines were clogged on my Pacer. They are 3/16" and they go from oil pressure regulator gallery and splits to pressure gauge then up to external oil filer housing. The external oil filter housing then has 3/16" line at bottom and oil returns down to the block. My first impression is these lines are aweful small. I would imagine they are 3/16" by design. Going to 1/4" may affect internal oil pressure...maybe? I guess once the oil is hot it flows through 3/16 pretty easily. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks, Bob

The lines most likely plugged because somebody hadn't changed the oil in 50 years. If they're now clean and you've got fresh oil I'd suggest staying with what you've got. I imagine that pressure might drop if you went to a bigger size tubing line, didn't my highschool physics teacher tell me that once? Good luck with your project, that is a pretty rare little tractor.
