Hi Jim -

There is a pretty good chance it's a blown o-ring on the stand pipe feeding the lift cyl.

You can check it by removing the small cover on the top of the lift cover, just below the left front of the seat.

This can be tricky - if you lift the cover the stand pipe may come with it, and if it lifts more than 1/2" it comes out of the top of the pump, and its the devils own job to get it back in place.

We crack the cover loose and lift it about 1/4", then jam the pipe (about 1/2" in diameter, under the middle of the cover plate) sideways against the differential cover with a thin strap or screwdriver so it won't come up any further. Then lift the cover off (there's a small sealing o-ring OR012 1/16 x 3/8 x 1/2) sealing the standpipe to the cover. There's one at the bottom of the pipe too.

Cover off, push the pipe back down, and stick a straight 24" or so heavy wire (a straightened clothes hangar works) down 12" or so to the bottom.

This locates the bottom hole so the pipe can be slid back down into the hole when replacing it.

Then pull the pipe, keeping the wire pushed down!!! and check the orings. Make sure nobody pulls the wire out!!!

If these o-rings are ok, something else is adrift, and you'll need to do exploratory surgery. You'll need a shop manual - the I&T manual for the MF35 covers your system.

The other o-ring under the cover plate is the same size as the two on the standpipe- OR012, and we butter the plate lightly with silicone caulking when reassembling, for additional security.
