Are there block heaters that will fit my MF35 Perkins diesel? If so, where do I buy one - my MF dealer, auto parts, online? Where is it installed?

Thanks!

Chuck, I have a MF150, should be the same diesel engine that is in your MF35. The diesel block heater is easy to install. You remove the freeze plug on the side of the engine which has the oil filter installed on. Select the freeze plug that is located far back, going to the rear of the tractor. Buy the heater at your MF dealer, cost back in 1996 was $24. Drain the antifreeze from the engine, take a screw driver and a hammer and knock lightly on the freeze plug to get it to lossen and wedge out a little. Then take a pair of needle nose pliers and work it out of the engine block. Clean opening so the "O" ring will seat properly on the heating unit. Put back antifreeze, make sure heater has antifreeze installed before you plug it in or you will destroy it. Plug AC cord into a 117 VAC outlet in order to check it out. Ray

I just installed one on my MF245 2 weeks ago. Cost $38 plus tax at my Massey dealer. I have a AD3-152 and mine mounted on the right side of the engine. there are 2 freeze plugs on the right side, use the rear one or you'll be grinding some of the lip off the heater to clear the block and have it sit flush. Knothing like learning from experience.

Good luck, they work great.

Chuck,

Just a comment, I put a block heater on my MF 255 about 10 years ago and it was about $22 or $24 then. About a year or two ago I lost the pig tail and had to purchase another still under $ 30. The point being they last a long time but if you leave the pigtail plugged in and lose it someday, you will likely have to buy a new unit because the plugs will not match.
