Trying to get a new toy to work

I got a set of double "O"ring chains today for my 245. Strung them over the tires and found that they hit the fender brackets. I have 14.9X24 skins. Is there a better way than pulling the fenders and grinding the brackets to give them clearance?

Appreciate the help. Tough when you can't try out a new toy on the ice. Charlie (north of Syracuse, gotta love the snow). And Merry Christmas to all of you folk.

Do you mind my asking how much you paid for those chains?

$200. My wifes cousins husband sells truck parts.
That price is cost.

When I put my loader on, even with a back blade filled with weight on the back, the least bit of ice would stop me. I didn't want to load my rears cause I'm using the tractor to finish mow 8 acres as well as plow 4 more. Nothing stops me now.

Do you even have water in the tires? I'm surprised that the loader (on) gives you ANY traction.

move your rims to another position on the hub plates according to your operators manual. you can then get half a foot or more of clearance.

I thank that body of water that separates us called Lake Ontario. Gives us 4 to 5 meters of snow a year. To us folk who couldn't get used to metric thats about 160 inches.

I don't have spinouts. Can I just swap the rims to the outside of the hub plate brackets? I haven't looked at my manual yet, but I don't remember reading anything about that.

Thanks

Before anyone tells me how green I am to these rear wheels, I just read my manual and found that thoughs brackets on the rims are clamps, not brackets.

I understand what your saying mf-mech and thanks.

By the way, I cheated and pulled my fenders for the winter.

Merry Christmas folks.
