Lift Question

The 3 pt lift on my MF50 is slow to lift and w/o an implement on it almost will not lower. After it sets for a day, it comes down and freely moves by hand.

I have changed hydro oil with Massey 90 wt mineral oil and replaced the filter screen - same results.

I can reach through the access hole and move the fingers, causing the valve on my pump to move - so they are not stuck. Per the manual, it appears that the fingers are out of adjustment.

I should think that the easiest (read most visible) way to adjust these fingers is to remove the lift cover. How hard is this to do? Any tips or suggestions?

Also, the cover on the stand pipe has been replaced with a single hydro remote and the lever is stuck! I think I would like to either rebuild this assy or replace it. Any recommendations?

Lastly, I noticed that the pressure relief valve has a tiny wire tied through the hole in it. Why would someone do this? Should I change out this valve and is this a difficult proceedure?

My tractor is shaping-up nicely and I appreciate all of your help!

Well, I solved my lift problem. Where the transfer plate would have been, there was an old single spool valve. It has been rusted/frozen since I bought my MF50. I never knew or really thought about it being open and therefore starving the lift of hydro oil - and lift/lower movement. To make a long story short, I bought a replacement transfer plate, put it on and the lift works like a champ!

The valve was open to the extent that the lift would barely move up and with new and thicker 90 wt massey mineral oul, it would not come down until after setting overnight. The transfer plate fixed that!
