I have a Massey Ferguson 130 with the Perkins Diesel. Tractor was set up for a long period of time and not used. Now the clutch will not release fully to stop the PTO. With a post hole digger on, the shaft will come to a stop, but not comlpletely. Is there an adjustment that can be made to remedy this, or am I going to have to split the tractor to get to the clutch. The clutch will release to put the tractor in gear, and the trouble seems to be only with the PTO works. I have tried to free it up with use, but doesn't seem to be getting better. Does anyone have some info that will help me. This tractor is the french made version so I understand.

Buddy,
I have the manuals for a MF25 (same thing) and have had a little experience with the clutch assembly along with Ken, who posted before me.

Here is a link to a site with the pics of the clutch assembly: >Link

Ken's>Link idea of sliping the pto clutch a little sounds like the trick, or possibly setting up the clutch a little if you have to much free play.

Good luck. I know all about splitting them and one last little note: if you have to split it, uncouple the clutch shafts in the housing behind the shifter. It's a simple connection, and it sure makes it alot simpler to put back together. I also have an email address for a place in the US that has clutches for it, if you have to go that far.
Cheers,
Larry

Buddy It is possible that the pto steel plate has a bit of rust & is draging on the disk It may wear off .Try & make the pto slip to wear it off dont overdo with slipping You should have 3/4 inch free play at the foot
peddle Do you have a manual ? Ken

I'm thinking if the old girl sat for a considerable time, the pto clutc may have "grown" on to the pressure plate. Solution.....split the tractor & remove the friction plate. I'd definitly try to adjust it first tho. Good luck.
Do you know how to adjust the clutch?

Thanks for all the come-backs. I have discovered how to adjust the clutch travel on the pedal and have done so. This seemed to help, however, the PTO shaft still will turn unless the clutch is pressed hard to the floor. I am going to use it like that, and with use might loosen up. The clutch looks good from the lower inspection hole and is dry, clean. Thanks again for the help..

not real familiar with a 130 but is this a 2 stage clutch or single if it's a two stage it's more then likely out of adjustment. if it's a single stage then you have a hyd.pto and this is not uncomon if it is cold .there is a pto clutch brake to stop it and that might be wore out or out of adj.best way to test is put the pto on a imp. that takes more power to run and do a test run if it still will not stop then you will have to look in to it more. also do you have ground drive pto?
