I was wandering if someone could tell me if all of the AD4-203 Perkins Diesel engines have the same bolt-up pattern? I have one with the serial # being . I would like to put this in a MF 165. It won't let me post the #. Thanks in Advance; Barney

Be carefull - I have a AD3-152 perkins manual and that motor varies between the stationary variety and the MF135. Same casting but the machining is slightly different for the tractor version. Crank shaft may also be a different length. Check the photos on Bareco which may help you.

Thanks, Smokey! I'll try to do my homework before I go to all the trouble. I'll take some thin gasket material and hammer out a pattern from another combine that had the same type engine removed, then I'll place the pattern against the bellhousing of the 165 to see if they match.

Thanks again; Barney

Hello Smokey,

I know what you mean, but I've found old Land Rovers over here that have had combine or tractor engines fitted "because that's what was handy" so I'm guessing that they were mostly common.

Mabie Bros should be able to confirm though.

Just visiting from the Ferguson forum - but I would say yes they are the same, as that engine was used in a huge variety of equipment by a number of different OEMs. As a profissional injunear, I do not think it would be worth Perkins having multiple expensive dies to cast the block, and then have machining lines able to cater for all the options - too much cost!!

However, this link may offer more info, and at least you could email them as a check. Follow the Perkins options, and you will get to a huge wealth of Perkins information. Enjoy.
