I will be going to my uncle's ranch to acquire for free his neighbor's 1945 Massey Harris tractor. I have no idea what model it could be. What models were made that year? He says it has a single front wheel and is on all rubber, so it is a row-crop model. I currently have only Farmalls, so this is something new to me. Where would I find the serial/model tag? Is there anything I should look for or know about when I go meet her? He says the engine is stuck, the metal is rusty, and was used last about 5 years ago. Thanks.

Well, it could be a 101 or 102 Junior, a 101 or 102 Senior, a 101 Super, an 81 or an 82. That would just about cover it I think. Everything is 4-cylinder Continental flathead for engine except the Seniors (6-cylinder flathead Continentals) or the Supers (6-cylinder flathead Chrysler). There should be an oval tin plate on the left side of the transmission case with model and serial number on it. If that is missing, the number is also hand-stamped into the top of the tranny case between the cast shift-lever platform (that has the gear shift pattern on it) and the steel plate that covers the back part of the transmission/differential. It is stamped into the upper machined surface on the left (drivers) side in the vicinity of the foot clutch area. Get the numbers and post them here and somebody will ID the model for you (and the year too).
