I recently had a new clutch / fly wheel / etc put into my T0-35, but when mowing recently the PTO when run at engine speed slips terribly. The Dealer who did the work went out of business a few months ago - just my luck. Is there a way to adjust the PTO without splitting the tractor? At ground speed it does fine - different gear I know - only won't hold to any degree at engine speed so you can mow effectively. I can't quite decifier any remedies from my shop manual.

You can adjust it from underneath by taking the inspection plate off from underneath the clutch.

There are 3 adjusting bolts on the PTO clutch. You need two good quality 9/16" wrenches to make the adjustment . You do not want the wrenches to strip the corners of the adjusting bolt or its lock nut as that means splitting the tractor to replace them.

The manual suggests a clearence of 90 thou from the top of the adjusting bolt. Jack in NB who has posted information on this (search the archieves) I think recommends 60 thou.

There is reasonable detail in the manuals on the PTO clutch adjustment. The job is not beyond an amateau mechanic.
