I'm replacing a frozen F162 from a 101jr with a F162 from a MH 30 and need to know if there is anything I need to do when changing the governors from one to the other. I have heard of engines running away with themselves after governor work. Don't need that, these engines are to hard to find. The 30 had a hydraulic pump and oil fed governor and the 101jr is just weight driven. The motor is in, but the radiator is still out so it's easy to get to it. Thank You for any info. and your time. Jim

I put a governor from the 140 Continental onto a 124 Continental engine (on an early 101 Junior). For some reason the 124 had an oil-feed line into the governor housing, I suspect it was something that somebody added themselves by just threading a fitting into the governor housing. The one I added into the engine did not have the oil line and it has worked fine with no problems for years. The governors were essentially the same one other than the oil line. Those governors get lubrication without the oil line from oil being splashed up onto the drive gears from the crankcase I believe. Are both of your governors (the original one and the one from the 30) coming out the radiator side of the engine? I assume the hydraulic pump from the 30 was mounted opposite the governor facing the back of the tractor from the drive gear location correct?
