I have been trying to remove the rear wheels from my Massey Harris 30, I have removed the 9 lug bolts.Pryed wherever I could. used an 4x4 wood to pound on the rim and tire. It still Has not moved. Would you tell me how it is done? I am new at this tractor game. Thanks for the help. Bob in NC

Driving up and down seems a good idea or as folk have suggested and, we say in Scotland "If at first you don't suceed, use a bigger hammer heid" ("head" for the non-Scots)

Put the bolts back in loosely and drive it up and down the driveway a couple of times, punch the brakes a few times, etc. That should loosen then a bit. Worked on my old green tractor, might work on other colors as well.

Nope, only works on green tractors. Have to drive in reverse for the other colors.

Had a similar situation with a JD 430. Used gas, pour a little around the hub/rim. Did it twice before it broke loose. Used an 8lb sledge and a block of wood to "tap" on it. Strongly suggest you do this in a well ventilated area or your wife will fuss about the smell coming from the garage. Also, I don't suggest smoking while trying this approach.

Sure you removed all lug nuts?

1. Instead of pounding on the back of the rim (between the wheel and the tractor), pound on the front of the rim, right at the edge of the wheel (dont damage the bead area) Work your way all around the edge several times. Use a big sledge (ie 12 lb head with a 3 ft handle) Have a brave volunteer hold a block of wood against the rim. Hit the wood, not the rim itself, so you dont ding the metal. Really swing the sledge hard if required.

I been waiting for a reply on this. They should come off but some time you need a bigger mall. Try not to hit them on the edge and bend the rims.David B
