Finding the 5gpm of the 65's hydraulics ain't cuttin' it. Has anyone mounted and aux pump? I hear you can put one up front. How's it mount? I've also been thinking about one driven off the PTO, but I don't know that the trans/reservoir is big enought. Would like to get to the 20gpm neighborhood. Ideas appreciated.

Chip The front mounted pump is run by a shaft & adapter plate that connects the front crankshaft pulley. On the MF65 you need a special steering arm with an offset in it that is no longer available. You sometimes can find a used one off of an old MF50 or MF65. With the original steering arm you cannot turn very sharp to the left because the arm hits the pump shaft. I have had a couple of them fabricated at a machine shop.

Thanks, Dean. Any chance anyone has part #'s for this unit? Any clues on where to start looking? I bet they're like hen's teeth used. Can the steering arm be cut and patched to work, or are we talaking about the cast Pitman arm.

Most better loaders of that day made for the M-F had front mounted pumps that drove from the front of the crankshaft. I think they did offer some PTO pumps but this ties up the tractor for PTO use. We had a good Davis loader with front pump years ago that was a great loader tractor, although a 4450 with MFD is not to bad today but there are newer and better out ther. The 65 hydraulic system was a high pressur low volume system that left some to be desired on loaders and remote cylinders.David B
