I AM GOING TO LOOK AT A MF35 NEXT WEEK. I KNOW WHAT TO LOOK AT ON AN 8N TO TELL ABOUT THE TRACTOR BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR ON A MF35 OR WHAT ARE THE TYPICAL TROUBLE SPOTS. CAN ANYBODY GIVE ME ANY POINTERS??

Suggest that if its a diesel, make sure its 3 cylinder Perkins engine rather than 4 cylinder Standard one if you want it as a working tractor. 4 cylinders can be difficult to start and can be more difficult to parts for. (Much as I love mine I do acknowledge its weaknesses) Apart from the obvious things that apply to all tractors I can't think that MF35 has any particular weak points. Maybe check for wear in front axle king pins and axle pivot pin - much like Ford I suspect. More importantly check that hydraulics will lift a decent load and stay up when engine is switched off. They will drop slowly but shouldn't plummet like a stone with engine off. If they do a pump rebuild might be needed.
