Removing the lift cover, is there an easier way ?

Just a question for general comments, ideas etc.

I recently had to take the lift cover of my MF148. Problem still not solved but that is a different story , and I dread having to take it off again.

As some one who has no specialised lifting equipment, I was wondering how anybody else out there removes / replaces these %^$£&^*^% things. I put a rope around the lift arms and with a little help from my father, man handled it off. It was not easy to do and the shape , balance etc makes it a very very awkward lump to handle.

How do other people do it ?

I've had mine off about 4 times, due to problems with the IPTO, pinion coupler, clutch and multi-power. I use an engine hoist, with the seat and my remote hydraulic valve removed. I put two 7/16ths bolts in where the seat is bolted to the lift cover with a short length of chain. This is on my MF165, not sure about the 148. When it's time to put the lift cover back on I use two 7/16ths by 6" bolts to help guide the cover back in place. This makes it possible to do by yourself.

There is a Massey special tool that it designed to help with this. Only seen a picture but it involves a long lever that bolts to the top of the lift cover (seat bolts?). A bracket comes down and fixes to the hinged pin point at top of axle. You use the lever to lift the cover up and it pivots about the hinged pin, ending up upside down at back of tractor. Difficult to describe but you might get the idea.
