What is the maxium size tire (width wise) I can mount on my existing tractor (MF 165 dsl)? The existing size tire is a 13.6 x 38 Agri tire. Will a 14.? x 38 or 15.5 x 38 fit the same rim? Will I need wider rims to support wider tires? Is there any benifit to having a wider tire on the rear? Thanks
Charlie

Your rim width determines the tires to mount. A
narrow rim will put added stress on the wall of the tire, make the tread bars wear uneven. Hard
pulling will also cause it to fail, sooner. If
you have 13.6x38 tires, they should be on 12" wide
rims. Unless you are having severe traction loss,
or rotted rims, this gets expensive.Buying all the
changes, for a 35 year old tractor, may not prove
wise. Going to 15.5x38's will be a quick $1300, for 6 rail 14" rims,BFG bias & tubes. Perhaps a
larger tractor is more practical. Good luck.
