My diesel came with a little problem. It smokes a little when cold (whitish blue). If I use the block heater it doesn't at all. The thing is, even if it's warmed up for a little while, your eyes burn if you get behind it to attach an implement. Strong diesel smell from the exhust. It starts like a champ everytime and has plenty of power but seems to run a bit rough.

Is it possible I have a leaky injector or maybe injector pump timing. The pump allignment mark is clockwise from the reference by 3/8 of an inch. If you line them up it runs worse.

Any hints appreciated.

I have a MF50 with the A3-152, not the AD3-152. I too get an eye full of exhaust when attaching an implement. Like yours, my engine starts like a champ, even if it sits for a month not started and I have plenty of power too.

With my engine, part of the smoke is (if I recall correctly) due to the indirect injection design of the engine - they simply smoke a touch vs the indirect AD3-152. Perhaps the age of your engine is more the cause of this smoke than anything else. What model tractor do you have?

Aside from a little smoke, if nothing else is broke, I'd forget it.

By the way, it doesn't use any oil and there's no presure in the crankcase.

If it starts like a champ, has no pressure in the crankcase, and doesn't use oil; Buy good fuel, change the oil, as recommended, and enjoy it for twenty years.

If someone has had the engine stripped they could have the pump timing out 1 tooth maybe. It seems a long way out on the timing marks so it must be something like that, this would cause it to inject maybe only slightly out with the adjustment taken up like it is and that would cause the smoke, not properley burnt fuel and that would make your eyes sting I guess.
