Shut off tractor while running well, tractor in gear by mistake and rocked back and forth while in gear and shut off. Afterwards tractor wouldn't turn over. Tried to turn with hand crank, couldn't do it. Took starter off, no problems with starter. Disconnected drive shaft, transmission is free. What do you think?

sounds like you have broken or bend rods.. if it ran well and then you shut off and try to start back on later on and wont turn over at all.. i would say open the oil pan and see if you can find any bend rod or eles.. check the cam and hydraulic pump gears too..not much you can find something eles for something that you are describe...let us know what you found out....

About all I could think that would stick the engine while shut-off would be if you have a hydraulic lock up. Perhaps one of the cylinders filled with water, gas or oil?
The design of the intake somewhat prevents fuel from filling the intake tract when a float sticks. If the gas tank was nearly full there may be enough "head" to raise to that level.
A head gasket failure may not allow water in until the tractor is shut off, then allow a cylinder to trickle full of coolant. This would definitely prevent it from turning over. However the crank should be able to be rocked back and forth a bit at BDC.

Let us know what you find.

sounds like one of two things. bent a rod and stuck/jamed it. or spun and locked a bearing. ether one is not fun. but if you need a rod or two let me know. i have 7 good rods for sale.

Rocked back and forth after shutoff? Are we missing
some detail here, why? With info provided, before
tearing too much down, remove the valve cover, any
stuck valves, guides jammed? To spin a crank bearing, or bend push rods, would require some intense rocking on the wheels by a group of men,
turning that 'off' engine for a while. Good luck.
