I've never seen a #42 but assume the engine is the same as on most #36 swathers which had the same 4 cyl. engines as some (very few) 1960s Chevy Novas. A hard to find engine. Especially now as they are getting 40 years old.

I looked at the wrong tag. Mf42 is the header. The windrower is a MF36. Any idea what the cubic inch is? The engine is in very good shape and runs very well. Now if I just had an exhaust manofold!!

That engine is a 153 CI (same bore and stroke as the 230 6 cyl., just 4 cylinders). The same engine used in the 1962-69 Chevy II Nova. Unfortunately, not many were put in cars and I don't know of any other indutrial uses (welder, fork lift, air compressors, etc.) that engine was used on. Finding a good manifold, and it being good besides, is going to be tough. Your best bet is to write to someone in the Nova car club www.nnnova.com and see if anyone would have removed a 153 for a more desireable V-8. Good Luck .Let me know what you come up with. ktkques@cltcomm.net
