Sorry for such a basic question but could anyone give me a basic insight on how the draft control and position lever works on a mf 65. also the "shifter" which is tucked under the draft control and goes to the rear housing, what would that be ? What position should the position lever be at when not in use, if it matters. I'm waiting on my operators manual and I don't want to hurt anything before I get it. Thanks before hand, this is a great forum.
Bob.

The "shifter" lever is the locking differential for the rear end.
The draft lever should be all the way down for transport and mowing, etc. It only gets moved up when using soil engaging equipment. Hope that this helps.

Bob, On my 35, you push it down and it remains locked until you pull it up. I have been told to never engage it while the wheels are spinning because it could damage the rear axle. It is used for (and I have had to use it) getting out of ditches when one of your rear wheels is not making good contact with the ground. Also, try it on normal surfaces and you will see that the tractor doesn't handle worth a darn with it engaged. C. T.
