I'm looking at a MH 55 with a gas engine. Appears to be in good condition. Could anyone tell me a little about this tractor. Good things/ bad things etc. Will it be hard on gas being it is a bigger tractor? Thanks for any help you can provide.

Internal engine parts are hard to find. For the rest of the tractor there are a few donor tractors in junkyards. (MN) I suppose they trickled in from Canada and the western states. I have a Gas and a Diesel 55. They are brutes when hooked to a plow but do not work well with the smaller bottom plows. (14") If you run the rear tire in the furrow it leaves an uneven looking job because the tire is wider than the furrow, packing down some of the last turning and produces a ridged field. Fun to play with, tremendous power , parts hard to find and not practical as a yard work tractor because of the accessory limitations "off the land" referred to.
Have fun.

Besides cranking out about 68 HP,you are lucky to
find more options than central hydraulics,PTO.
This is the unfinished tractor,4 speed,no live PTO
no disc brakes,no 3 Point hitch, fixed width. Most
common use was pulling a trailing gang plow. If
you have 5 acres, want a locomotive, with limited
parts, here it is. More unique fifty year old MH's
would be a 44RC, 33RC, 44 RC Special. Good luck.
