Can any one tell me how difficult replacing a water pump on a MF 165 dsl will be. I am figuring on taking off the hood so that I can remove the radiator and accessing the waterpump. I am think of replacing all the hoses and belt while I am in there. Does anyone have any helpful hints or recommendations?????
Thanks

Replaced mine acouple times over the years. No need to take off the hood or radiator. You can remove the fan and small bypass hose and bypass housing and after that it's a snap. There is one bolt behind/edge of the pulley that comes with the new pump.

I was not sure if it could be done with out taking everything out. I got the new waterpump Monday, I am going to start Friday night, Hopefully take all the old hoses & belt in and match them up Saturday morning and be riding saturday afternoon. The new waterpump is already assembled with the pulley and I have seen the bolt you are refering to. The repair manual makes note that it needs to be in place before the pulley and bearings are pressed on. Thank for the reply Lee, have a great day! Charlie

Hi, If I recall right, the one I got from MF comes complete with the bolt behind the pulley already in. If not you will have to pull the pulley. Bill

Hi, You need to have the top bypass hose, before intalling the pump, you can't get a new hose in a 1/4 inch gap. Bill

I am planning on removing the water pump tonight and taking the old hoses with me to the tractor place to get new hoses. The pump I bought already had the bolt in place and every thing was assembled (pressed on). Thanks to all for all the advice.
