Stabilizer Bracket Quest Question

When I bought my MF50, it had a single stabilizer bracket - not an original, but an angle someone had made. I replaced it with a pair of "universal" brackets, but the stabilizer bars for my tractor are not working out. Apparently the centers of this "universal" bracket are off. Rather than cut-up my bars, I'd like to get a set of original brackets. Problem is - I am having a heck of a time trying to locate a set! From my manual, the part numbers are 181-775-M91 for the right hand bracket and a p/n 181-776-M91 for the left hand bracket.

I posted a "wanted" add on the classifieds, but haven't heard anything.

My questions are:

1. Could anyone recommend a source for a pair of used MF brackets?
2. Why would anyone have had one of these tractors and NOT used stabilizer brackets?

Thanks in advance,
Bill

Bill,
Have you placed the pin in the bracket at the hole that lines up with the lift arm? Then thestabilizer arms rotate about the same line.

Jerry,

That's the problem. There is not a hole that lines-up!

Thanks,
Bill

Bill, Can you slot the mounting holes so that the stabilizer pin holes will line up? If not, guess you'll have to make 'em out of angle iron.

Try switching your "universal brackets" from side to side. I ran onto a set several years ago, that didn't line up, becouse the left was on the right, and vice/versa. If that doesn't do the trick, they would be very easy to fabricate, using some angle iron. If the pins line up with the lower link pivot point, there is absolutely no troubles with the stabilizer bars. About your only chance of finding O.E.M. brackets, would be to find someone scrapping an old Massey. Good luck, John

Tractor Supply sells an adjustable set that will fit. Not like the orginal set but they do work.
