Chuck,

That is a great looking tractor for the price.
Based on the loader brackets your loader is a QT or quik tach which is very good. It might be a MF 236 which is for a 50 hp tractor. The advise regarding the 3 manuals is very good. Also review this site for posts by Big Dean. Many of his posts give a link to his web site. He has much good info on his site and he also sells CDs that many have indicated where very good in helping perform service functions. Keep us informed.

Phil,
You are correct on the number for the loader. I have checked out Big Deans web site and I will be refuring to often. But when you say quick tach what does that mean. Right now the loader sits on the ground and it is very heavy. So how do I go about mounting this thing to the tractor. I have to get the hyd pump that goes on the front rebuilt so I can mount it and pick up the loader. If you know of a way to mount it and load it on a trailer with out the pump please drop me an email and let me know.

Chuck,

I have looked at a MF236 loader for my tractor but
I let it get away before I decided it was what I needed and wanted. The QT or Quik Tach means it is very easily removed and re-installed. One man told me that after you remove and replace a couple of times you can take it off in a couple of minutes and replace in less than 10 minutes. That is a nice feature.
The front pump only works the loader. Do you know if the rear lift works. If it does borrow or purchase a lift boom which would be about 75 to 125 dollars. Use your rear lift to pickup the loader and back your trailer under it. If your lift isn't working maybe you can find someone close by with a tractor or loader to load it for you. Paying someone 20 or 30 bucks might be a cheap way to get it loaded. If it is an MF 236 loader in average condition the loader alone is worth 1,000 to 2,000 dollars.
I would unchain the rear lift, crank the tractor and work the two levers on the right side of the seat. Even if you get the front pump repaired you will still have to get the loader lifted enough to get it mounted. You may even be able to jack it up enough to start backing your trailer under it and then jack up the other end and back under it enough to haul it home. Keep us informed and lots of luck.

Phil,
I put a few pic's of the 236 loader on the site with the 135 pic's. Let me know what you think.

Chuck
P.S. TSC told me it would cost $400.00 to replace the hyd pump for the loader. The guy that gave it to me said the pump was shot. Do you know of a way to check them.

From the pictures it looks like the tractor and the loader are in pretty good shape.
Somehow I can't believe the pump can't be rebuilt at a cost less than new. However, it appears that someone mounted the loader on the tractor by altering the mounting brackets. It appears that the brackets would work for a MF245 or smaller series tractor. No problem here because it appears they took great pains to do it right. The pump used may not be massey, just something picked up that would service the need. Check with some hydralic shops for estimates. Because you have the added front pump you can use your loader and the 3 point hitch at the same time. Using only the rear pump you have to throw a switch which lets you only use one lift/loader at a time and to change you must throw the switch again.
I am trying to be patient and find a 236 loader for my 50hp MF255. I will have to add a front pump to my tractor as I want to use the 3pth and the loader at the same time without have to throw a switch. The pump is about $250 with mounting hardware another 200 or so plus lines and fittings. Remember, if you take your time and do it right the first time you will never be sorry about how it performs.
Does your 135 have power steering? Even if it doesn't you still have a great deal in this.
Good luck.

Phil,
Since talking to you last I have found a company through the NAPA guys that will check it out and see if it does need rebuilding or is alright. I am just going by what the guy told me that gave me the tractor and he did not seem to know much about it any ways.It is a cross pump. You said something about the pump being $250. Everywhere I have check they are saying $400. The NAPA guys laughed and said that he was sure he could find something cheper then that.

One more question what do they mean by MUILT-POWER. Is that the high low shifter next to the reg. shifter?

When you say the altered the brackets what do you mean? The bracket on the front or the belly brackets? Or the pump mount.

Is the switch that you are talking about for using the 3 point or loader located just in front of the seat. Between your legs. If so maybe that is why it is rusted and I can not move the lever that stick out of it. Is this also a vent for the trans/rearend.

About the power steering yes it has it but the pump is leaking from around the front cover seal. It works till the fluid leaks out. I have a rebuild kit on the way. Also ordered the manuals.

Dont know where you are located but if something happens that I dont want to keep the loader would you be interested in it.?

Chuck,

Based on your photo of your tractor's dash, I don't see the Multi-Power (MP) lever on the dash. The small shift lever on the transmission is just low or high range for the trans. MP is sort of an automatic transmission and unless it was hidden you don't have that. If your tractor had MP you should have a small shift on the left side of your dash marked MP with high or low positions.

The front bracket was altered by an extension out in front of the tractor to mount the pump. Looks like it was done in a good manner. I doubt if the pump was a real MF pump so anything that fits the mount may work.

Sitting on the seat there should be a plate on top of the transmission behind your shifters next to your right knee that is about 3 to 4 inches square. A switch or hydralic valve can be installed here. The switch would be a square box with a small lever around the size of a cigarette that allows you to switch to three point hitch or loader. If a valve is mounted there the lever would stick up kind of between your legs and would be about the size of the small transmission shifter. Since you had a front pump mounted I don't think you would have this kind of valve on your tractor. Just to the left of your small shifter on the trans is the transmission fill plug. Removing it leaves a hole about the size of a silver dollar or a little larger.

The front pump may be leaking because of excess weight the loader puts on the frontend and power steering pump. If you think you will want the loader and the things it can do it may be worth an e-mail to Big Dean to see if a heavier pump could be used. Other wise when ever you do some serious loader work you may blow the steering seals.

Yes, I am trying to locate such a loader within 100 to 150 miles of Tupelo, MS in Northeast Ms. I would certainly be interested but I fear that you are too far away.
