Hello, I am looking at a Massey ferguson 1100. It has a cab and new tires on the back. I know it turns over but wolnt start. The guy says it was low on fuel and he went to fuel it up and it died and hasnt been started in 3 years. We know it is sucking air in the fuel system somewhere but havent took the time to figure it out. Anyways we are looking at buying it. Dont really need it but it is there and might get a good buy. I am trying to get a price out of him. He has a NH 310 baler that hasnt been used in 3 years either it has sat outside all this time. He said he wanted 5000 for the tractor and baler. I asked if he would take less for just the tractor and he said that he was selling the tractor and then throwing in the baler as a bonus. Has anyone or does anyone own one??? Are they any good??? I am just trying to figure out what to offer him for it. I know that 5000 is unreasonable but if you guys think it is a good tractor, other than the fuel problem, then I will go back and talk to him. Im not looking for a exact price. Im just looking for feed back on that basic model. Please advise. Thanks in advance

I have a 1130, which was running when I bought it, cab, bad rear tire, had to replace it and have the clutch re-done, it was so stuck we couldn't break it loose until the tractor was broken down clutch manually pried apart. I only paid $1,500.00 for it and put another 1,400 into it. Runs good now, did have fuel problems, could be the lift pump sucking air also. Good luck, I would try to get him down to $4,000 or so if I were you.

The 11XX series of Masseys were one of the best at the time they were made. From what you have said I would start by draining the tanks and work my way forward till I got to the injector pump. Replace all the rubber hoses to start with then fuel filters. After that drop the oil and install new, now finally try to start the engine by breeding the system. Sometimes you can get it running on either but doing that is not for a novice as you can do a lot of damage in a short ammount of time. After it is up an running check out the hyd system, after setting a long time a valve in the system gets a bit sticky and the 3pt won't work. Not sure which one as ours have never had the problem but have heard several folks talk about it.
Hope this helps, and good luck

Hi, I am looking at a MF 1190 and hear there might be some non-perkins engines which may have parts issues.. any htoughts? any way to ident on the engine or via the SN?

any other comments on an 1190 [ i usually shy from turbos] would be welcome.
