I have an opportunity to purchase a MH 101 Super Twin Power. I believe it is a 1939 model with Chrysler 217 Engine. General condition is poor, don't know any history on it. All 4 tires flat, broken manifold, engine loose, but not running. Seems to be complete except for lower side shields below fuel tank and chrome strips on grille. Is it worth $800 as is? How tough will it be to find a manifold and lower rear side shields?

Thanks for any information.

Dale

Finding a manifold should be fairly easy. Old Massey Harris combines had the same manifold(#20,21,21A,26,27). There are probally a few at a wrecking yard not far away. I have four of these tractors up here in Canada. The most I have paid is $400 in similar condition to the one you describe except no side panels or grill pieces. I say buy for $850.

Thanks for the input. Do you know whether this tractor came with cast F&H rear wheels or stamped steel?

I paid 750, for mine , good tires running but some problems. did not have side or front panels, new repros are 400.00 for a set of 4, I do not know what the small ones would cost, probably 100.00, tires are expensive unless you have some used ones, For one that runs with good tires, old paint you are looking at 1500 to 2000, a restored one, maybe 4,000. there is a few around if your willing to travel, this costs money too. my 2 cents

1940-'42 had the 217 cu. in engine... The "gotta have factor" really determines the worth... Personally, I'd love to have a Super 101. It was a very uniquely styled tractor. But the general condition makes it worth more like a parts tractor that I'd offer less for, at least in my neck of the woods.
