I JUST BOUGHT WHAT APPEARS TO BE A 1958 MF35 MASSEY-FERGUSON. I'D LIKE TO FIND A WEB SITE OR A PLACE WHERE I CAN FIND THE COLORS THAT FIT THE TRACTOR TO BRING IT BACK TO ORIGINAL. THANK YOU

I bought what I thought to be a Massey Ferguson 35, when I started rubbing it down I found that it had been repainted from it's original grey/gold paintwork which was still underneath, and was a Ferguson 35. I belive this was done as the 4 cylinder engines are notoriously bad starters and sold better second hand if they looked more like the 3 cylinder. There were some 4 cylinders built in red/grey, I belive they were sold first with Ferguson and later with Massey Ferguson badges. if it was built in the UK it would be Old MF Red (Not super red) and Stoneleigh Grey, or Gold Metalic and Ferguson Light Grey. I don't know whether the American built tractors were any different.

Brian, I have painted a lot of masseys and I have found the paint the dealer sells is not only the exact colors the tractor should have but is cheaper in price than automotive outlets. The cast iron should be flint grey metallic and the sheet metal red Rouge. You can buy your thinners and primers at the auto paint outlets or you can even find thinners, etc. at Home Depot or Lowes if they are around you. Paints and thinners are very expensive especialy when you are trying to gather all that you need to do a good job.

Look in Tractor Photos at left of page. Be sure to look in comments for people disagreeing with paint jobs so you don't get it wrong.

I think the castings should be Flint Grey Metalic with Massey red sheet metal, but I could be steering you wrong.
