I'm going to look at a 1941 M-H on sunday. The man that has it doesn't know what model it is. Is there any way to tell what model it is by measuring the wheel base. He said it's the same size as the 1950 Case VAC that it's sitting next to.Where would any identifing marks by found on this tractor? Thanks for any help here....Art

Post the ser.#. Massey models never overlapped ser numbers, so with the ser. #we can tell you the model, and if it's a standard or rowcrop.

If it is about the same size as the Case VA and it has a 4-cylinder flathead engine, then it is either a 101 or 102 Junior, or perhaps a model 81 or 82. The 101/102 series had a cast iron front tub while the 81/82 series had channel iron front frame rails. Is there an oval serial number plate on the tractors left side ?

The oval tin plate (if it's still there) is on the tractor chassis, the casting for the transmission to be more specific. Can't miss it, it's a good size. If it is missing, the serial number is also hand-stamped into the following location ..... locate the upper machined smooth surface of the transmission/differential housing. On this upper surface between the shift lever platform (with the gear numbers on the casting) and the steel plate at the back (covering the differential gears) will be the numbers. They are to the drivers left side near the clutch pedal location. They are relatively large numbers but might not be deeply stamped so you'll have to scratch off the paint or wire brush it to find the numbers. They will be there. Post the serial number here and someone will ID the tractor for you and it's year of manufacture.
