The rear rims mount different. The front axle is bigger. The front u-frame is longer. The seat mounting assembly is different. The gas tank is bigger. The platform has a lower step. The headlights have different mounting brackets and the lights are smaller in diameter. The mounting tube for the steering wheel and shaft is different. The front wheels are mounted on on bigger and heavier cast hubs. The front rims do-not have the formed center piece like the standard 44.The engine is a continental H277.

44 specials have a 277 cubic inch engine. They also have cast iron centers on wheels to make them heavier. My book says compression on a 44 gas is 115-120 PSI. Compression on a Special 44 gas is 120-130 PSI.

Hope that helps.
