I am wandering if these tractors were offered with MF canopies when they were new. One would be nice this summer. I don't remember seeing any of the metal canopies on the MF tractors back then at our dealer. Any thoughts on this?

I got a John Deere roll guard and put on my 135 Massey, now first thing I want to say is I didn't put it on for roll over protection. I put it on for the metal canopy(which I made) for a shade as I was tired of replacing buggy top shades. It has worked well and has been on there for several years(probably at least 8-9 years). I know it will provide some sort of protection in the event of a roll over but I don't say that it will or it won't . Its anyones own judgement as to putting one on or not. This is just something I did for myself and I don't recommend to anyone but it has worked for me and done what I wanted it too. Rollover protection??? I hope I never find out but I'm sure it would beat nothing.

None of these models had factory installed rops
or canopies. They were offered individually thru
the parts and accessory catalog. One part no. for
the two post rops(one # fit the models mentioned)
another for kit(mounting plates and hdwe) and a
third part no. if you wanted the white canopy. I
would believe you could still order from your Dlr.
Could furnish p/n's on request. You need to specify whether round axle housings or the heavier
squared off housings and tractor model.

The ROPS off of a MF 245 will fit my 165? I have the last year model with square axles.

Thanks Bob

yes; I have the square axle model also. I got mine from a MF 135 in salvage yard. It had been taken from a 245, so they all interchange. Also fits my MF 65.

There was an after market builder of these earlier style Canopies, they look about the same as the one on a '66 3020 Deere. I've seen them on late 60's, 70's tractors, like a Ford 5000.
Don't know if they are still in business, had a
name like... Tractor Tops(?). Looks like a little
search work for you. Quality seemed decent. Good
luck.
