I've got a MF 150 diesel that won't start. I've replaced the alternator and the battery and the switch. It's been sitting for a while and started before I replaced the above parts but then it quit and wouldn't crank. That's when I checked the alternator and replaced it and the battery. When I turn the key there's nothing - like it's not getting power to the starter. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Gears and hi lo are in neutral. It may be the neutral safety switch as was suggested in one of the replys. Where would I find the safety switch?

Sorry for not acknowleging the help but the computer was down for a few days. I think the problem is probably the wiring. The lights on the left rear fender will come on but the others won't. There's also a wire disconnected that when connected juices the fuel guage even with the key off. Is there anywhere on the web where I can get a wiring diagram or is it simple enough to trace down? This is my first tractor so I don't know a whole lot about troubleshooting.

Thanks for all your help.

I should have said 140 Farmall. Also find the starter solenoid. The battery hot lead comes to it,( a large cable) and then a large cable comes back from the starter to the solenoid. Once you find this solenoid there is a small terminal on it that gets power from the ignition key. With a wire jumper or screwdriver jump power from the hot battery lead coming to the solenoid over to the small terminal. This should make the starter turn over. Make sure you do this safely, i.e. both gear shifts if equiped in neutral. If you can make it turn over by doing this and the fuel shutoff is in run position it should start. If you can make it start in this manner then you know you have a problem getting power to the starter solenoid. It is also possible the starter solenoid is defective. In some cases the starter solenoid is located on the starter. In other cases depending on tractor make it is located separate from the starter.

Make sure the gear shift is in neutral and the high low range is in neutral. My 140 won't turn over unless the above is true.

bruce, disconnect both wires from safety start switch, join them together, place gearsticks in neutral and turn key. if it doesnt start, trace back wiring circuit until you find fault.
