What is the horsepower for a Perkins D MF 165? I have seen 52 and 62 both advertised on tractors for sale. Was there a difference between early models, 64/65 and later 74/75? Thanks

well i can`t help much but to say, that i have a mf 175(U.S.) and it is ratd at 66.6 horses, to the pto i think but still if that helps you then good luck, i am guessing that the 165 would be about 9 to 15 horses lesser then the 175.

In the US the MF165 came with 3 different engines. They had the AD4-203 diesel rated at 52 pto HP. The AG4-212 Perkins gas rated at 51 pto HP. The G176 Continental gas rated at 46 pto HP.

I can tell you a little bit about the English built 165 diesels. The first 165 tractors were fitted with the A4.203 engines Max gross hp 58.3 at 2000 erpm. The later models were fitted with the A4.212 engine, which produced 60 bhp.
Just to confuse matters, some European built (eg Spanish)165's had the 236 engine!
If you sit on the seat of a 203 engine tractor, the exhaust is on your left. On a 212 engined tractor, it is to your right.

bob, in australia there is, 203 c.i d. or 212 c.i.d. diesel, i am not sure about u.s. models. i asked the question a while back and was told only 203 diesel or 212 gas (or petrol as we refer to them) down under, over there. maybe some other kind person would like to respond.also, are they getting confused with engine or pto h.p., maybe.cheers.
