I still haven't been able to trace down problem with my MF 150 not starting (see earlier posts) but this morning we had a hard rain storm and the tractor started all by itself. The tractor was outside, no one around, key not in it. I had to disconnect the negative battery cable to turn it off. Can't get the darn thing to start when I need it and now it's starting by itself! Anybody ever had this happen to them?

Bruce, sounds like a faulty starter solenoid.

Thanks Sibby. I haven't had much time to follow up on your earlier suggestions but it really blew me away when it started all by itself this morning. Guess I'll pull the starter and solenoid and have them both checked when it stops raining.

Bruce, we had an old willys jeep that did the same @ 5.a.m one morning. my cousins M.F. 1085 did the same when he wasnt home, started in gear by itself and drove itself in circles through 30 acres of mature sugar cane. thought someone had pinched it then went looking through the maze and found it stalled in a drain. melted the guts of the starter motor which cost a fortune, all because of a sticky solenoid. might pay to check your wiring for rat damage while youre at it. cheers!!!

MF-150 Eager to go: If you can afford a few of these you can train them to start and go to work sites unattended.
Sounds like you have moisture and corrosion not allowing the solenoid to retreat fully in its throw.
If it is haunted you may want to leave it in neutral, set the brakes and chock at least one wheel.
It is nice tho to have even one tractor eager to go!

Rick, May want to post this as a separate question, it may get more exposure, since your tractor is "broken" not "haunted".
