A couple of things come to mind that Big Dean has enlightened us about. One is a problem I've had on my 65. If you take the 4 big bolts out of the cover plate on the bottom of your tractor, a 5/16" round 2" long (approx.) metal pin may fall out. Or, you might reach in and feel around and find it. There are three of these pins, and you can see where they go by shining a light into the access hole. If so, you can slip it back into the clutch finger pivot hole and weld the end in place...or weld a glob of metal on the end and grind it into a cone/wedge shape and tap it in tight. This is temporary, but it can get you through the season. I've had limited success as a new welder working up through the hole, but I was able to tack in one of the pins. This has happened to me where I couldn't budge the shifter, and I had to pull the tractor with my truck, and when I got it back to the garage the shifter came loose and I was able to spin the engine (hit the starter w/ the fuel shut off, so it won't start...just spins a little until the correct clutch finger pivot is accessible) and slip the pin back into place.

There's another problem that occurs where the gear shift lever is loose and pulls up, locking the tractor in gear. You fix that by opening the oil-fill cap and pushing the big gear forward or backward. If you search this site or check Big Deans site you can figure it out.

Go to Big Dean's Web page Link page 2. I am mechanically challenged, but with his instructions, I have fixed this problem several times in just a minute or two. C. T.
