I am looking for information on whether an older 44 MH can be updated to use the Hi-Low transmission section from a 444. I have been told that the 333 and 444 use common transmission parts. This I have no other input on. My additional question is the circular and diametral pitch of the mainshaft gears the same between a 44 and a 444. I need to know this because I'd like to install these parts without having to change the counter (pinion) shaft. Does anyone out there have the necessary parts to make this conversion? I thank you for any help in advance.

Though the 333 & 444 share matching gear sets, only the late Specials can unoffically compare
several gears/shafts. The classic 44G RC is, for the most part, a different tractor. Specials,
S/N 55113 & up, have heavier carrier bearings, different pinion(interchange w/Triples). Even
when you have a Triple RC tranny case, it's a beast to button up the detail differences. If you
face the gear task, of hi/lo, into a '50 44 case:
not in this world. It is possible to sweat out
a tractor from a Special & Triple RC, but still
not real 'leasure'fun. Accept a 'no' on this one.
