Ok guys I need a little help! I found a MF65 with front end loader. The guy says he wants $3000 for it. He says the clutch won't disengage. Says you can start the tractor, step down on the clutch and shift it into gear, let out on the clutch and away you go! But when you step down on the petal to stop it just keeps going ang going. What does sound like it could be? And is it worth $3000? Otherwise the tractor seems to be in pretty good condition. Thanks for the help...

Billy

Run, don't walk, to your bank and get the cash. Go back and wave $2500 around, see if you get a sniff. If you have to go the three, well, your still getting a bargain.

They're going to have to pry my 65 out of my cold, dead fingers.

Jump on it FAST! What a bargain. Even if you have to pay a dealer to split the tractor (around 400-700 for clutch job). The loader is worth 1500-2000. by itself! Let us know how you make out.

I'm not a mechanic, but I can tell you that around here the 65s get snatched up real quick in any condition. I looked for about two years before finding one, and never found any of them that were priced below $3000.00. I paid $4500.00 for mine without a loader, but it is in very good condition and has only 3500 hours.

Bought a 65 at an auction with a hole in the block for $1,200. Previous owner ran it dry. Picked up a strong motor for another $1,200. For $2,400 I got a lot of tractor. That was two years ago and no problems since. On top of it, I sold a TO-20 for $3,200. What a difference.

I had something like that happen on our MH50. In that go-around, one of the clutch lever pivot bolts had broken, and so one of the three throw-out levers wasn't working. It was a lot like you describe but I got her home. Of course, it happened in the middle of haying.

Found it when I split it. Actually, I pulled the front end, and then the engine. There are some guys would will use a big floor jack or two and just roll the front half from the rear half, but you damn well better remember to block out that front axle pivot if you do it that way.

If that's what it is, that's what the fix is. I took the clutch assembly to a clutch and brake rebuilder in town and they redid it for me no problem.

If the rest of the machine is in any kind of shape, and you don't mind the happy task of splitting her, or paying somebody to do it, you might wind up with a bargain.

I did our inside a two car garage. Dunno if a 65 would fit in there or not, but it should be straightforward if a job like that doesn't scare you.
