I have a 1962 mf-35 deluxe and my tractormeter is bad. i have been looking a buying a new one and i only have one question. why do they list a tach for a TO-35 and then a MF-135 but never a MF-35. I realize the 135 is newer but i dont get the diff between the TO and MF. Do I buy the one for a TO-35??

Thanks for the help and sorry if this a dumb question

The MF 35 does have a tach and a part no.
Originally they had diff.p/n by serial no. and
RPM of transmission. If you start with p/n
l93967m91 it may sub to a newer no.Ask your
dealer. This is for a gas tractor. The diesel
goes counterclockwise and takes a different
tach 193980M91. If you can't get one let me know.

BC, It's a great question. I have asked myself the same one for years. If you look up the catalog sites, you will notice that most MF tachs run counterclockwise. Our precious 35's run clockwise. I have found an almost identical tach on a site. It has "Ferguson" written across the front (Half a name is better than none.) I wonder what was done if a tractor came from the factory with the larger tire option. Was there a different tach with a different MPH scale? My hours are counted at 1875 RPM. How about yours.
I have been tempted to buy the replacement tach, but I am notoriously cheap, and since I can't store my honey inside yet, I am not inclined to buy improvements which will be exposed to the NY winters.
E-mail me if you need any info.

There were two types of tach for the 35, depending on what type of engine was fitted, petrol or diesel. You should be able to get one to suit your tractor at your local MF dealer, or why not have the old one repaired - any instrument maker should be able to fix it for you.

Peter, you're talking to a "Bloke". Blokes are taught to throw it away when it breaks, not fix it.

I remember when I was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford. My C.O. had a '49 Morris Minor 2 door sedan and the light switch went out.

He popped it out, opened her up, burnished the contacts, put her back together and back in she went.

Over here, we'd have thrown the old one in the trash and gone to the store and bought another.

Totally different culture my man.

Best,

txblu
