My Mf 40 has been in the shop more than it has been in the fields. Just completed a new PTO install and now the Clutch assembly goes out. It will take a complete rebuild of the clutch and pressure plates.....Need opinions. Am I throwing good money away in continuing to fix this or should I just write it off to owning an older tractor and get it fix....
Signed....Frustrated Bakerman

I know your pain so well.Iam just completing a to-35 and amf-50.It has taken a good portion of my time for two years. On the to-35,when I fixed one problem, two more would reveal themselves.I paid too much for it and it broke acon rod after I used it for three months.A sensible person would have parted it right then.Being sensible is not something I have accused of often. That was four years ago. That tractor will never bring what I have in it.I love the thing and through it I have learned so much that oterwise I would not have learned otherwise.I say fix it yourself and you will create something to take pride in that cannot be purchased.I want a 40 myself.

Thanks JB for your thoughts. I am now back to working on the clutch and will hopefully have the 40 back out working within 2 weeks. It is a great machine, but sometimes you just need encouragement from other owners to keep the body willing to keep working on this great tractor
