Question for Big Dean

I bought a Massey 165 diesel that had been left outside with exhaust uncovered, consequently the engine is seized. Before I get any deeper into this project, I would like to test the multi-power. I am thinking that I can put the transmission in gear, jack up one back tire, put the multi-power in high and charge the multi-power from the remote hydraulics of another tractor. If the m-p is working, the back wheel would not turn. What is your opinion of this idea? Would there be a posibility of damaging the m-p if the pressure is to high? Thanks.

After I posted the first message, I was looking at the situation with my son in law. He suggested this. We split the tractor at the flywheel, put the tranny in a forward gear, m-p in high, jack up one back tire, put the pto in engine drive and spin the pto shaft with an electric drill. If we turn the back tire forward and the m-p is working, it will turn the inner trans. input shaft. If the m-p is not working, or in low m-p, that shaft would turn free. Does this sound better?

Hi Bob I don't thing you turn both input shafts at the same time with a drill and even if you could it really would not help a lot. The Multipower can shhft into high fine when the Trans/Hyd oil is cold & not shift into high when the oil reaches operating temperature or not hold enough pressure to keep the clutches from slipping when the tractor is in a hard pull.

Big Dean, I hear through the phone lines that you are the man to answer just about any question relating to a Massey tractor. I purchased a IMT 560 deluxe, probably an early 70"s model. Do you know the horsepower rating on this tractor? IMT web site must be in some other language- rates power at 41(kW). I also hear that IMT was building these under license from Massey-Ferguson during this time. Anything you can tell me about this tractor will certainly be appreciated.
