Can someone please explain just how the clutch on my 165 works. Like when I'm using the PTO with the baler for example, I push the pedal 1/2 way and the tractor stops, PTO keeps running, push rest of the way down and tractor and PTO stops. Is this typical? Also it has a hill hold feature that when your on a hill and push the pedal 1/2 way, the tractor stops immediately like I'm on the brakes.

Congradulations. Your tractor is working exactly the way it is supposed to. It is equiped with a two-stage clutch, which provides "Live PTO". The others have explained the "Hill Holding" feature correctly.

Your tractor must have a multi-power transmission. in high M-P the hill hold works If you dont want the hill hold to work just pull M-P lever down to low position. Hopes this helps. Joe

Hill-hold is a feature..... .....or rather a by-product of the Multi-power transmission. When in High Multi-power and the tractor is facing up hill in a forward gear and the clutch is operated through it's first stage, the tractor will not roll back, facing down hill in reverse the tractor will not roll forward. This is because the constant mesh gears of the low multi-power are fixed to the shaft by an overruning clutch, when the tractor tries to roll in the oppisite direction to the gear selected it is engaging both low multi-power and high - locking the transmission. Your clutch is working correctly.
