A friend bought a Massy Harris 22 that is a little different than what we have seen before. It has a nonadjustable wide front. The model # is 22 GS. That model is not listed on the serial # page to the left. The serial # is 1026. What type is it and about what year. Thanks for any help.

Up here, most MH's of all models from the 40's into the 50's were wide non-adjustable front axles like yours. It would be fairly common up here with narrow fronts and adjustable wide fronts being few and far between.

Mike, I have never seen a Mustang or Colt with a standard axle, although it lists one in the parts manual.

Those you mentioned are so rare out here that I didn't even think of them. I guess I was talking about the numbered MH series like 101's, 102's, 20's, 22's, 44's, etc. Where abouts do you live in New Brunswick? Anywhere near Newtown?

Newtown? I actually had to look that up on the map! I'm about an hour and a half away. I live just outside Saint John. I have a Colt and didn't see another myself till this spring at a tractor show in sussex. There were 2 Mustangs and a Colt. Where abouts do you live?

I live about 10 minutes east of Edmonton in Sherwood Park. Live right here in town but have a few friends with farms so stuff I've finished I get to store out there.

Your 22GS 1026 (S meaning standard front end) was built in 1948, the first year that model was made. The serial numbers started at 1001, so yours is one of the first. Infact, the tractor tested at the Nebraska Tractor Test in October of 1948 was serial number 1019. Hope this helps and have fun.
